SXSW's Web Awards

Tiffany Schlain flew into the conference Monday before she jetted around the country Tuesday to personally congratulate winners of the Webbys. Saturday night in the Radisson Hotel, however, Hugh Forrest of the SXSW led the charge of congratulations for Austin, TX's version of the web awards. John Halcyon Styn, a San Francisco web-personality, emceed and congratulated the happy recipients in his orange leather pants and bright flashy blue jacket. His long curly locks were bound in a long ponytail. Afterwards I chatted with some of the winners, like Paul Zurowsky of Freedom Channel who won the Best New Web site for '99 and Michael Cheng who won the Best College Student Web site. Jill Abrahams of CherryBomb.com came over to introduce herself and tell me she won the Best Grrl Website. At the party afterwards I spoke with Adam Powell of GreenRocket.com, Glenn Coleman of NuCentrix and Owen Thomas of eCompany.
