The second luncheon in the Texas Technology Executives and Officers Series (http://www.xsandos.com) was held on April 6th and featured a keynote address by Dr. Arno Penzias, former vice president and chief scientist with Lucent Technologies (http://www.bell-labs.com/user/apenzias/).
Penzias is now retired, but is actively seeking new companies and technologies for Lucent (http://www.lucent.com) and New Enterprise Associates (http://www.nea.com), a venture capital firm. He has been involved in a broad range of research on productivity enhancements and information management, and spoke on these topics as well as how increased synergy between people and computers will affect the workplace and the economy.
Dr. Penzias is also known for his work in radio astronomy, particularly his part in the (accidental!) discovery of key evidence supporting the Big Bang theory of the origin of the universe, for
which he shared the Nobel Prize in physics in 1978 (http://www.bell-labs.com/user/apenzias/nobel.html).
The X's and O's series will continue in June with Todd Wagner, CEO and co-founder of broadcast.com.
