Scandinavia on my mind

Wednesday night I faced the rains and went to the Canadian Consulate to hear the NYNMA International SIG's panel on Scandinavia. Each speaker offered his or her own perspective and background on experience, and what they've seen in terms of new media and new business in their countries. The speakers, who all have illustrious backgrounds, included Hans Karsten, Magnus Gink, Gitte Pedersen and Cathleen Santosus.

Hans Erik Karsten is Fixed Infrastructure's technology advisor to the CTO and former managing director responsible. This company, Telenor (www.telenor.com), also assists as the Technology Advisor to the Norwegian Trade Council and is Norway's leading telecom, IT and media company. The Norwegian Trade Council (www.ntc.no) is the national resource for Norwegian companies operating in or entering international markets. Magnus Gink is president of Result Venture Knowledge (US) (www.result.com), which is based in Stockholm but has many international offices. Gitte Pedersen is founder & CEO of Proximity (www.proximity.dk), a business consultancy with offices in Denmark and New York. She also founded HIGHTECH Scandinavia (www.hightech-scandinavia.com), which facilitates business between hightech companies in the US and Scandinavia. Cathleen Santosus is a European Internet analyst for eMarketer, one of the world's leading providers of Internet statistics aggregated from worldwide sources.  It has just published the 250-page "eEurope Report."
