Tuesday brings me to a Black Tie Event by the American Institute
for German Studies honoring Dr. Henning Schulte-Noelle for excellence
in business and leadership. I was invited by Michael Baumann of
Wirtschafts Woche, a German business magazine, to accompany him and
his wife at their table. The event was held at the Regent Hotel
Ballroom, which I soon learned that in the early 1900's was home to
Citi Corp. I was seated next to Stefan Baron, editor-in-chief of
Witschafts Woche, and on the other side was scholar Robert Shiller
from Yale University, who wrote New York Times best seller
"Irrational Exuberance." Dr Henning Schulte-Noelle is chairman of
the board of management of Allianz AG and this year's recipient of
The Global Leadership Award. This award is given annually in
recognition of outstanding services in the furtherance of German-
American relations.
