American cellist Kate Dillingham will make her New York debut on April 16, 2002 at Merkin Concert Hall, Abraham Goodman House (129 West 67th Street). Ms. Dillingham will perform two world premieres, Augusta Read Thomas’s Chant, which Ms. Dillingham commissioned, and Jennifer Higdon’s Suite for Solo Cello. Also on the program are Johann Sebastian Bach’s Sonata for viola da gamba in D, BWV 1028; Robert Schumann’s Five Pieces in Folk Style for cello and piano (1849); Claude Debussy’s Sonate for cello and piano (1915); and Joaquin Nin’s Suite EspaƱnole. Blair McMillen will accompany Ms. Dillingham on the piano. Mr. McMillen has performed concertos in Alice Tully Hall, appeared as soloist on a tour of Japan with the Juilliard Orchestra, and has performed all over the world as a soloist and chamber musician.
