The S Spot

Launching in the Big Apple during the week before Labor Day,
Silicon Spot, attempted to draw together a crowd for it's first
soiree in sticky NYC on Wednesday, August 30. Similar to some other
networking events, they had five - eight companies present their
businesses to the crowd. Soliloquy was there, hoping to find some
recruits. I chatted with Glow365.com's CEO Cindy Palusamy and
Industry Relations Rita Shroff about their reservation system for
spa services. David Schwartz told me about his newest venture,
SkylineJazz.com and some plans for the Fall. Movies magazine CEO
Brian Richards let me take a copy of his new publication
about the progress with their product and introduced me to Brand
Equity Ventures' Alan Stein. HauteCouturefofyou.Com's Paris Gordon
introduced me to SurfKitchen.com's Nandi Gurprasad. Fortunately he
was interested in meeting me, otherwise I'd have received the
"Tattoo Parlour" biz card he hands out to others! Just before
leaving I got the card of Mousumi Shaw, who's setting up the
Silicon Spot party circuit. With a banner taped to the Budda's
belly in the Lava Lounge, though, and the oversized massive display
banner at the entrance, the Spot made its point with how they
approach the cocktail party scene.
